I love to crochet for a new baby and this book gives you 34 designs to create for that new one in your life or a friends. Hats, booties, sweaters, pants, rompers and blankets are all included. Mix and match to give a complete layette or just one for a small gift. Color photos show what the finished item looks like but if you don't like their colors, pick your own. Each pattern highlights any special stitches in a colored box before the instructions which are written in a clear and understandable manner. There are three pages of general information including a crochet hook conversion chart and a yarn type chart. Terms and abbreviations are explained also. The sizes are 3 - 6 months which are fine for a newborn but no changes for other sizes are given. Of course, blankets can be increased in size without too much pattern knowledge but changes for increasing size are not as easy without instructions.
