Callie's Gift

Callie has been blessed - or cursed - with a special gift. She can see into the minds of criminals before they act. She is privy to their sadistic fantasies, the torture they intend to inflict upon their victims. Moreover, when she touches someone, she loses touch with reality for several long moments while she experiences visions of their life - visions from the past, present or future. When the visions are over, she is left dazed and with the mother of all migraines.

It's that unfortunate side effect that causes her to lose her job. While in a vision-induced haze, she drops a glass of water intended for the handsome new customer in Danny's Diner. Her boss had warned her to pay attention, but this is the last straw. He fires her on the spot.
